“Memorizing phone numbers.”

“My mom used to take the phone off the hook in her bedroom and deadbolt the door so we couldn’t use the phone. I actually had phone numbers of the pay-phones I could get to on my bike memorized. I would give those out as my phone number, and when someone said they were going to call me, I would just ride my bike up to that phone and wait for the call. I don’t know if anyone ever found out that it wasn’t my home number.”
