What are your thoughts on #IBM’s #RedHat acquisition? (Source: Reddit/r/Linux)

  • i think the idea is basically cool, ibm needs redhat. for pc users nothing will change, maybe fedora will be effected (let us see). but ibm has been pushing towards open hardware and open source for past few years. ibm has been weak in terms of os and didn't understand the concept of user experience. maybe finally power cpu will be back in pc market.
    redhat is mostly opensource so idea of ibm buy it means they can optimize redhat for there respective hardware for mainframe,server and super computers. if ibm cloud supports redhat natively, people will find it easier to move towards ibm's cloud.

  • IBM is in the market of selling a service and certainly has the potential to do great things here. Whether they will or not who knows.
