O’Donnell said that, just as Nixon had partisans even after he resigned, Trump has a core that will not turn on him.
“But the marginal voter who made Donald Trump, that swing voter who made Donald Trump president, has now turned against Donald Trump,” he said.
Multiple polls show Trump’s overall approval rating is plunging, down 5 percentage points in just one month in a new Fox News poll, for example.
The poll numbers are even more dire on the economy.
O’Donnell noted that was once the president’s strongest issue, but “that’s all over now” after weeks of economic instability triggered by Trump’s tariffs and trade wars.
