Well, Trump sure isn’t happy with Trevor Noah’s hosting of the Grammys.
Politics was a hot topic at last night’s awards, from a plethora of “ICE out” pins to numerous calls to action in acceptance speeches. Noah himself took a few jabs at the administration, including impersonating the president while claiming that he has a bigger ass than Nicki Minaj.
However, the one that drew the most ire from the president came right before Noah presented Song of the Year (which went to Billie Eilish). Noah said of the award, “That is a Grammy that every artist wants almost as much as Trump wants Greenland, which makes sense because Epstein’s island is gone, he needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton.”
As the audience laughed, Noah added, “I told you it’s my last year [hosting]. What are you going to do about it?”
Trump then took to his platform, Truth Social, at 1 a.m. to complain about the awards, calling them the “WORST, virtually unwatchable.”
He continued, “The host, Trevor Noah, whoever he may be, is almost as bad as Jimmy Kimmel at the Low Ratings Academy Awards. Noah said, INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. WRONG!!! I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight’s false and defamatory statement, have never been accused of being there, not even by the Fake News Media. Noah, a total loser, better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast. It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty$. Ask Little George Slopadopolus, and others, how that all worked out. Also ask CBS! Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you! President DJT.”
Last week, many more “Epstein files” were released. Thus far, the documents have implied that Trump flew on Epstein’s jet “many more times than previously has been reported.” There have been no documents released stating that Trump has been to Epstein’s island and he has never been charged in connection with Epstein’s activities. Trump has denied ever attending the island or any wrongdoing.
So glad comedy is legal again! BuzzFeed has reached out to CBS and the Academy for comment.
