Tramell Tillman made history at the 2025 Emmys Awards, and I couldn’t be happier.
A beloved scene-stealer, Tramell portrayed Seth Milchick in Apple TV+’s genre-bending Severance.
In a history-making moment, Tramell won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, becoming the first Black man to win in the category.
During his acceptance speech, Tramell said, “You remember what you want to remember. You make time for what you want to make time for, do the work, show up, and most importantly, for the love of God, don’t embarrass me in public.”
He continued, “My first acting coach was tough, y’all, but all great mothers are. Mama, you were there for me when no one else was and no one else would show up. Your loving kindness stays with me, and this is for you. Thank you to the Academy. I am full. I am humbled. I am honored. And as my mama would say, ‘Look at God.'”
If you remember, when Tramell first learned of his Emmy nomination, he called his mom, and it was the sweetest moment as they both cried over the phone.
Tramell said over the phone that he always planned he would bring his mom to the Emmys if he was nominated, and he kept his promise.
What makes the historical moment even better is that at the time, Will & Grace alum Sean Hayes commented, “I brought my Mom and I won! Mom’s are good luck!! I have a really good feeling for you, friend.”
Congratulations, Mr. Milchick. Well done.
(Now I’m crying.)
