Looking like he might be about to win his first Oscar, Timothée Chalamet is on top of the acting world right now.
From early roles in Homeland and Interstellar to his breakout performance in Call Me By Your Name in 2017, Timmy has been a major face in Hollywood for nearly a decade. But that doesn’t mean it’s always been easy.
During a recent interview with Matthew McConaughey for CNN and Variety, Timothée reflected on the early days in his acting career and specifically recalled being belittled by a rude co-star who questioned his training.
Telling a cautionary tale about people who take too much pride in offering other people advice, Timothée said: “I had an actor do that to me once. No names, but the guy was a punk.”
“He asked me what conservatory I had gone to, and I said I didn’t go to an acting conservatory,” Timmy recalled. “And he said, ‘Well, you haven’t trained as an actor then.’ And we were all part of an ensemble.”
Timothee obviously didn’t give any more information about the “punk” actor’s identity, but he did tell the story within the context of his experiences when he was “18, 19, 20” years old. That detail aside, people on X have been reflecting on the various ensemble movies that Timothee has been a part of in the past decade, including Don’t Look Up, Little Women, and The French Dispatch.
Well, whoever it was, Timothée certainly got the last laugh.
