I’m sure you’ve seen the pictures on social media of the town of Blatten in Switzerland completely covered by a mudslide from a melting glacier.
According to the BBC, the 300-person town was evacuated a few days prior to the disaster because geologists said the glacier was “unstable.”

One woman told Reuters she couldn’t talk about the disaster, saying, “I lost everything yesterday. I hope you understand.”
USA Today reports the mayor of Blatten told reporters at a press conference, “We’ve lost our village. The village is under rubble. We will rebuild.”
