
So, all in all: Do we recommend splurging on these $11 Last Crumb cookies?
Overall, not really — but it’s worth noting that everyone’s preferences for various cookie elements varied pretty heavily in this group, which certainly mirrors the real world, too; different cookie textures, sugar levels, and flavor profiles make the world go round, and we love that! I gave the Biscoff Crunch cookie a 10/10 when it came to flavor, and Spencer gave it a 2/10. Claudia thought the Pistachio cookie deserved a 9/10 for texture; Meg gave it a 3/10.
Here are the facts that we can all get behind, though:
• While these cookies are super rich and often a tad dense and doughy in the middle (just look at the cross-sections throughout this post), they’re not as sweet as a Crumbl cookie, on average. Sure, they’re sweeter than your typical home-baked cookie, but they weren’t wildly cloying overall, which we appreciated.
• Microwaving is pretty essential to take these cookies from “cookie-in-a-bag” to something that tastes truly luxurious. Though a quick zap wouldn’t fool anyone into thinking they’re fresh-baked, the warmth mitigated some of the dryness around the edges and made all the flavors pop a lot more.
• Some of the decorative and flavor elements are risky, in ways that may or may not pay off, depending on what type of cookies you like. Tiny, crunchy, spherical pops of mint and Biscoff chunks are certainly a feast for the senses, but whether or not that feast felt enjoyable varied heavily from one tester to the next.
