Marriage can be hard. Add in busy schedules, media attention, public opinion, and the scrutiny of fame, and it doesn’t exactly set up celebrities for ideal relationship conditions. So when celebrity relationships stand the test of time, it is truly something to admire. But (sadly) more often than not, it doesn’t end happily ever after.
And this year is proof: There must be something frigid in this 2025 air — because even the celebrity couples that made me believe in love are calling it quits. You know, the couples who I thought would die together in their beds…The Notebook style. Decades of marriages…over! Soul mates…separating! And all I can do is dry my own tears and wait for 2026 to redeem us all.
So, as we hold on for dear life during the remaining 12 weeks of 2026, let’s recap the tragic celebrity couples that split this year. And to add a personal spin to it, I’ll tell you how shocked I was by each of these split announcements. This is how you will know:
3.
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom
4.
Jessica Alba and Cash Warren
5.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck
6.
Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson
7.
Lily Allen and David Harbour
8.
Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied
9.
Austin Butler and Kaia Gerber
10.
Shaun White and Nina Dobrev
11.
Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes
12.
JaNa Craig and Kenny Rodriguez
13.
Adam Lambert and Oliver Gliese
So…what do you think? Which celebrity breakups hit you the hardest this year? Let me know in the comments! And if you really want to shake things up, tell me which celeb couples you think could end up on this list before 2025 is over. I love some playful speculation.
