I think it is safe to say you know who Lili Reinhart is. She is a talented actor who is most widely known for playing Betty Cooper on Riverdale, a series based on the Archie Comics characters that ran for seven seasons from 2017 to 2023.
Well, this week Lili was on The Drew Barrymore Show to promote her upcoming TV series Hal & Harper, along with her skincare brand Personal Day, which was inspired by her own struggles with acne and the link between skin and mental health.
And now, one specific moment during the interview is going viral. It is when Drew can’t help but ask a burning question she has: “Is it true that you met a man on TikTok?”
And Lili quickly grins, confirming, “I did.”
Drew instantly can’t hold in her excitement and interjects with, “Oh my GOD, tell me—”
And Lili giddily jumps in to reiterate, “I did. I met THE MAN on TikTok. Yeah, I did.”
Anyway, Drew follows this all up with a legitimate question, “I mean, I like TikTok, but now I love it a lot more. How did you guys find each other out there in that ocean of vastness?”
“So I had heard you made the first move,” says Drew, seemingly flabbergasted.
At that point, Lili shares, “In my twenties, I was the one making the moves.”
And Drew admits that she cannot comprehend how Lili is able to do this. “At 50, I am still literally, I’ve gone backwards. I used to make the first move, and now I’m like ‘No, no, I’m good,'” she says, shaking her head.
Earnestly, Lili asks Drew, “So what do you feel like you have to lose? Someone that isn’t even in your life yet?
That statement hits Drew hard and stops her in her tracks. “Oh GOD. I knew that is why I wanted to ask you…I don’t know…I think…I don’t know, but that is the best question, and that is definitely not what I’m asking myself,” she admits.
Still fully invested in Lili’s story, though, Drew wants to know the rest. “So you make the move, you DM him, and then what transpires?”
“We went on our first date…and it lasted a whole weekend,” Lili shares as you hear the audience gasp with surprise.
So, in only the kind of admiration that Drew Barrymore can give, she tells Lili that the story is something out of a movie. And she agrees, “It was. It was a very quick, ‘I love you’…not that weekend, that would have been a little bit much, but it happened very quickly. I feel like he instantly became my best friend, and he still is to this day… They say you should be with your best friend, and I am absolutely with my best friend.”
The clip has over three million views on Instagram, and people are loving Lili’s encouragement for women to just make the first move.
They also keep echoing how her words are so simple, yet so profound.
She is just so wise, that Lili.
