In case you haven’t heard, the iconic horror film franchise Final Destination is coming back after FOURTEEN years away. (The last film, Final Destination 5, came out in 2011!) Final Destination: Bloodlines hits theaters in just a few days, May 16, and I just have to say…the marketing is out of control. Like, I’m TRULY obsessed with it.
Before we get going, for a refresher, let’s revisit one of the most unforgettable death sequences from the entire franchise: The logging truck.
So, the logging truck disaster is the opening “premonition” sequence in Final Destination 2. Basically, thanks to a loose chain and a hot cup of coffee, a bunch of people die in a horrible highway accident.
The scene is W-I-L-D and famously “traumatized” millennials (as well as anyone else who has seen the movie). I mean, if you’ve ever driven behind a logging truck IRL, there’s, like, a 99.99% chance you’ve had this same intrusive thought.
The death scene is so famous, in fact, it’s become a meme:
Anyway, fast forward to 2025, on the eve of the new Final Destination Bloodlines release, and it would seem the filmmakers want to re-traumatize us all and are going HARD with marketing like this:
Yes. That is a (fake) logging truck advertising the new movie.
In the viral TikTok video (which has 2.7 million likes) from rhyszx, commenters had pretty much the same jokes about “generational trauma” in response to this brilliant bit of marketing:
And if the logging truck isn’t enough…there’s also this scream-worthy billboard featuring “people” falling to their death.
Final Destination Bloodlines lands (like a log) in theaters THIS Friday, May 16. So, buckle up, it’s going to be a wild ride. And here’s the official trailer in case you want to get a taste of what’s to come:
