Things got heated during a recent CNN roundtable discussion.
Scott Jennings, a conservative political commentator for CNN, and Leigh McGowan, a podcaster and political commentator better known as @IAmPoliticsGirl to her nearly 900k Instagram followers, faced off about the Epstein files.
McGowan then chimes in, seemingly imitating Jennings by saying, “Yeah, ‘let’s not get our knickers in a twist’ over child rape.”
“Why are you talking like that?” McGowan asks Jennings. “It’s insane. Like, it’s insane.”
McGowan then seemingly says to Jennings, “Why are you acting like you have no idea what’s happening here?” To which Jennings replies, “He asked me a question about following the law. I said they should follow the law.”
“I know you have a strong opinion about it, and I respect that,” Jennings tells McGowan.
“I have a strong opinion about it because it is a disgusting policy that they are doing this,” McGowan responds. “They are hiding it. It is not the behavior of innocent people. And, everything that is in these files is— it could bring an entire house down. And if it has to, it has to.”
“If it brings down Democrats, bring them down. If it brings down Republicans, bring them down. If it brings down princes, world leaders, Hollywood people, bring them down. But what it feels like right now is that there’s a giant cabal of people that do not have to listen to the law, do not have to repose to the law, and they were supposed to do something, then they didn’t do something, and now they’re trying to have a new law that says, ‘We don’t even have to do it,'” McGowan says.
McGowan’s response has gone very, very viral. People are applauding the author and YouTuber for calling out Jennings and the Department of Justice. “I REALLY like her. She is clear and concise with a whole lotta spice,” one tweet reads.
“Everyone is Leigh McGowan in this conversation.”
“I’m so glad she called out his tone. He’s more passionate about things that mean absolutely nothing. Then the ‘I see you have a strong opinion’ comment. STFU. Everybody at the table should have a strong opinion about this.”
“We are actually just fundamentally broken as a society. How have we reached the point where someone can use the phrase ‘let’s not get our knickers in a twist’ about child rape and sex trafficking, and not be immediately socially ostracised?”
Comments on a TikTok about the exchange read, “SHE MOCKED HIM LMFAO” and “when she clocked him acting confused.”
“I absolutely love her face,” another comment reads.
Another response reads, “DAMN!!! This woman is fucking awesome.”
“That look alone told me the next words out of her mouth would be glorious,” one user commented.
(“That look” in question.)
And, lastly: “Finally someone with a microphone said it.”
There you have it! Thoughts???
