Rob and Michele Reiner’s children have issued a statement following the apparent murder of their parents.
The couple was found dead in their Los Angeles home on Dec. 14, having suffered stab wounds. It has been reported that Romy found her father after she was contacted by a massage therapist who was unable to access their property.
Their second son, Nick Reiner, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and appeared in court earlier this morning. His lawyer, Alan Jackson, said it was “too early” to enter a plea.
Shortly after his court appearance, Jake and Romy issued a statement to multiple outlets. They began, “Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day.”
“The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends,” the statement continued. “We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life.”
“We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave,” they concluded.
Tracy Reiner, who was adopted by Rob during his marriage to the late Penny Marshall, further said, “I came from the greatest family ever…I don’t know what to say. I’m in shock.”
