Police Officers Are Revealing How They Honestly Feel About Trump's ICE Raids

“My response can only be characterized based on the videos I’ve seen online, as, thankfully, these raids and ICE’s presence haven’t been present in the community I’m an officer in. The things that have frustrated me from the videos I’ve seen have been what appear to be serious Fourth Amendment violations. The Fourth Amendment is what protects you from unreasonable search and seizure by the government, and without transparency, I am failing to see the probable cause or even any reasonable suspicion leading to some of these encounters.”

“This leads me to my other frustration: the lack of accountability. As a law enforcement officer, my name, as well as that of any assisting unit, is all over every report, document, and other interaction I have. We are taught to identify ourselves at the beginning of any interaction because it creates accountability. This lack of accountability leads me to believe that the ICE agents know they are not operating within the law. The use of force has also, in my observations, appeared not to follow any sort of use of force continuum I am familiar with. If these agents were to come to my community, I would, as an officer, aim to protect the rights of the citizens in the community I serve, regardless of their status, and with the expectation of due process.”
