You probably also know that Pete’s father, Scott Davidson, was a firefighter who died in 9/11 when he was seven years old. In a new interview with People, Pete opened up about how it felt to lose his father at such a young age, and how he moved forward.
The topic came up in the interview while Pete was discussing the notion that he’s a confident person. “If you guys think I have confidence, I have been fooling everyone,” he noted, while also clarifying that “It’s so difficult to say anything in print and not be afraid to come across the wrong way.”
“But I had a really shitty childhood — and, like, the worst thing that ever could have happened to me, happened to me when I was seven,” he continued, referring to his father’s death.
Pete then further discussed how he’s “fallen into traps” in the past when it comes to managing life’s pressures, especially by “Trying to be of service to others and not take care of myself, and, like, just [trying to] people-please.”
“At the end of the day, it’s like your family matters and your two or three friends that you have matter. Everybody else can go fuck themselves,” he said. “And you don’t have to put all this pressure on yourself.”
“Who cares what people you don’t even know think?” he added. “Like, who the fuck cares. You don’t know them.”
Can’t argue with that! You can read the entire interview here.
