The vast majority of mass shootings are carried out by cisgender men. Percentages change depending on the organization and how they’re defining mass shootings, but data suggests that trans people commit between 0.11% to 2%.
Mark Bryant, founding executive director of the Gun Violence Archive, told CNN that of the more than 5,700 mass shootings in the US since January 2013, five of them were carried out by trans people.
