“Meanwhile, I had called the cops. I was so impressed by the kid’s quick thinking and asked how he came up with the idea. He said that he always keeps an eye out for a way to escape. When he sees someone he doesn’t know approaching, he gets ready to run. I felt awful that this kid had to live like that. If I hadn’t seen it happen myself, I would have thought it was just paranoia.”
“Yeah, my parents know a guy who was an ambassador to a few developing countries when his kids were growing up, and the kids were all trained in what to do if they were kidnapped. The youngest, who was 7-8 years old, was apparently the only kid in his class at school who hadn’t been kidnapped.”
