“Parents who expect everyone else to raise their kids. As a teacher, I had several smart students who wouldn’t do work because their parents didn’t care about education and figured it was our job to get their kids to do anything.”
“If you aren’t involved in your kids’ education and raise them in an anti-intellectual household, they will lose interest in school. Few kids ever turn around from that and actually go against their family culture. The sad part is, many of these parents recognized their kids’ intelligence but just couldn’t care enough to be involved.
Same thing with kids raised by grandparents/nannies/daycare, even when the parents have time to be with their kids. It’s great to have helpers and a village, but if you don’t want to be around kids, why did you have them?”
