“From my experience consultants. They find a company in dire straits. Tell them they are the best possible person in the world to fix their problem. They have a PhD, in fact, in fixing this particular problem. They tell the client everything they want to hear. Give a few PowerPoint presentations. Tell companies they need to work their employees three times as hard or spend on some technology. Then poof, they are gone with a fat wad of cash and no responsibilities to implement the changes.”

“Political punditry. They bring almost no value and make their living out of fanning the flames to keep themselves on media.”

“Real estate agents. Years ago my wife and I ran an electrical contracting business. On big housing developments, we would do house after house — we would get somewhere around $14,000 for wiring and finishing the house. That includes materials, and one to three electrician’s wages. A real estate agent would make a few phone calls, do a few walkthroughs, and personally pocket $16,000 off that same house.”

“Professional sports players. There’s no reason people should be getting multi million dollar contracts to throw a ball around.”

“Football coach. I love me some college ball, but c’mon man, coaches are the highest paid public employees in several states.”

“As a manager, managers. I’m essentially support staff for the people that actually do the work, yet I make more than them.”

“CEOs and upper management in general. They used to be paid 20:1 what their employees made. Now it’s 290:1. That is a 1000 per cent increase from 1978. Meanwhile, worker compensation has risen 24 per cent. This cannot be explained away as performance, business size, technology, etc. They’re stealing the wealth their workers generate, plain and simple.”

“Basically every single finance job. We’d be a hell of a lot better off if financial literacy was taught in school.”

“Software engineer. There are so many 25-year-olds making $300,000 a year and spending it on Doordash.”

“In American public schools, administration and sports coaches. Like, to the point where in many school districts, the primary reason your teachers are underpaid and on welfare is because your school district would rather spend a million dollars giving a principal a golden parachute than half that on giving teachers raises.”

“Headhunters/corporate recruiters or whatever you call them. I had one contact me and offer to send me some of their ‘premium candidates’ and only charge me a one-time fee of 30 per cent of the position’s salary. Read that again, 30 per cent of a yearly salary (for a skilled position) just for forwarding me some resumes.”

“Notaries are incredibly overpaid and the vast majority of their job should be taken over by artificial intelligence. They are just protected by the law. I couldn’t believe how much I paid my notary for a few hours work when I did the first down payment for my house.”

“Healthcare administrators. Doing nothing but making sure the hospital makes money at the expense of the patient, and frustrating everyone who actually delivers patient care.”
