“This happened about a year ago. My partner and I were working from home; I was working downstairs, and he was upstairs in the spare bedroom/office. I finished work at about 4:30 p.m. and went into the kitchen to clean and prepare dinner. I heard my partner walk behind me, cross the dining room, and walk upstairs. I assumed he had been in the garden, having a coffee and a cigarette. Immediately after hearing him reach the top of the stairs, he walked back down into the kitchen. I asked what he had forgotten, and at the same time, he asked me what I was doing in the kitchen.”
“I told him that he had just walked past me, went upstairs, then immediately came back. He told me that he hadn’t left his desk for a couple of hours, and that the only reason he came downstairs was because he had just heard me walk up the stairs, past his office, and into the bathroom. He said that prompted him to look at the time, realize he was off for the day, and walk downstairs. I told him I hadn’t gone upstairs. At that point, we thought there was an intruder. There wasn’t. Neither of us has any idea what actually happened.”
