“Thankfully, I think this is starting to fall out of favor, but parents with autistic or otherwise neurodivergent kids who try to make them ‘indistinguishable’ (this was common language when I was a kid). I’m not saying let them do whatever they want, but the focus should be on helping kids navigate and cope with the situations they’re faced with as they discover the way their brains work, not on getting them to suppress any sign that they’re different and trying to force them into the mold of a ‘normal’ kid.”
