And as I read the responses, I couldn’t help but nod to each one. Here’s the advice people found the most outdated:

“‘Nobody’s going to pay you to stare at a computer screen all day,’ said my mom in 1996.”

“The week before I left for college, my dad bought a cheap electric etcher. He etched my social security number on my TV and bike and a couple of other things. That way, if they were stolen and recovered, I could prove they were mine.”

“To find your first job as a teenager by just going from place to place and filling out paper applications.”

“I asked my grandma for advice with a girl, and she told me the first thing I should do is ask her parents if I’m a potential suitor for her and make her parents and mine agree on the relationship.”

“I remember my teachers telling me ‘Don’t study these new trendy subjects at university like media, video editing, and tech.” You should focus on traditional subjects like literature, history, and so on”.
