So, on Sunday, Jack took to Instagram to celebrate the 20 years of marriage to Tanya Haden, with whom he shares two sons, Sammy and Tommy.
“20 years! Happy anniversary my love!” he captioned the post, which featured a ton of adorable throwback pictures of Tanya, along with some sweet pics of their kids over the years.
Jack has spoken about his marriage on several occasions, and he and Tanya have also made multiple red carpet appearances together. But despite this, Jack’s anniversary post seems to be many people’s first time learning that he’s been happily married for decades.
“I had no idea he was even married, let alone for 20 years!” one Reddit user wrote, while someone else joked: “I truly thought he just wandered the earth alone, wearing flame outfits and singing to himself.” (Iconic.)
“Weirdly, it never occurred to me he might be married,” wrote another fan who said they “respect [that] he keeps his personal life personal,” despite being so famous.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pic of his wife before,” someone else wrote. “She’s adorable, and they look sweet together!”
Commenting on the sweet IG pics, one person pointed out: “She looks like she matches his energy, which is what we all should want in a partner.”
Naturally, people were very intrigued to learn more about Tanya, who is one of the triplet daughters of musician Charlie Haden. The whole conversation also prompted one user to bring up Jack and Tanya’s adorable love story, which began when the two were high school classmates in California.
“We would cross paths, and I had a girlfriend, and she had a boyfriend, and it was just a little talking here and there. And then that day came when neither of us had a significant other,” Jack told Dax Shepard in 2024, recalling how he and Tanya crossed paths many years after graduating when they attended a mutual friend’s birthday party.
“I had always been so kind of intimidated and never really wanted to really approach — she made the first move is the point,” he confessed. “She came up to me and said, ‘Hey, do you ever wanna go get dinner? I should give you my number,’ and I was like, oh my God. Heaven opened up above my head, because it was like, this is the thing that I would always want to happen.”
Less than a year after they began dating, Jack and Tanya tied the knot in 2006 — and the rest, as they say, is history!
