“Disney adults.”
“I have a very close friend that is a Disney fanatic. They spend all of their vacations planned around it, alienated one child because of it (they’re adults now), and acted like they won the lottery when another child got a job at Walt Disney World for one season (took a gap year in school). Let’s just say the child did not have a good experience and was somewhat alienated because their parents could not accept that their child did not enjoy working for the House of Mouse.
They pushed the youngest (of three) to do the same, even after the bad experience (think what that means when you are a 20-year-old woman), and when she refused… it was like the girl was refusing the convent. Anyway, I made a comment that ‘Disney is a more organized religion than most organized religions. It requires more than a tithe, and people happily pay it,’ and that caused quite the stir in the friendship.”
