Nina Dobrev is keeping a positive outlook amid all the changes in her life.
To keep you up to date, it was reported last month that Nina and Shaun White recently broke up after five years together. The pair got engaged less than a year ago and were seen out and about together as recently as Aug. 31, so it’s fair to say the breakup news shocked fans.
Initial reports said the split was “a mutual decision”; however, some insiders have disputed this, suggesting that the breakup was actually caused by their conflicting desires for the future. “There was one reason: She wanted a family and wanted to get married — and he didn’t,” a source told People, claiming that Nina is totally “devastated.”
As it stands, neither Shaun nor Nina have directly addressed the breakup or what may have caused it. However, Nina just gave an update on her mindset during a brief interaction with a TMZ reporter at LAX on Wednesday, and it sounds like she’s very much focused on herself.
Walking through the airport, the Vampire Diaries star was asked how she’s “holding up” and whether it’s been “tough living everything out in public,” presumably in reference to her split from Shaun. In response, Nina replied: “I’m excited for the future and the only thing that’s guaranteed is change.”
So, Nina’s clearly keeping positive and, as you may have seen, she’s been keeping busy, too. Shortly after the news of her split from Shaun made headlines, she spent time on a yacht in Sardinia with friends like Keleigh and Miles Teller, Chace Crawford, and, most notably, Zac Efron.
Being that Zac and Nina are both single, pictures of them together on the yacht quickly sparked dating rumors. However, when asked about the speculation during her TMZ run-in, she shut it down with a laugh.
When the reporter brought up the vacay pics, asking if there was anything going on, Nina shook her head and confirmed that she and Zac are just friends.
Well, it’s good to see Nina is doing well! Meanwhile, Shaun has been active on social media since the breakup, though he’s not made any references to Nina or his personal life. We’ll keep you posted with any developments.
