As you are probably aware, last week, more than three million pages of documents, images, and videos were released by the Department of Justice as part of the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
This release gave a harrowing insight into government records related to the investigations, prosecutions, and associated matters involving convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and other powerful individuals.
For reference, Epstein died in prison in 2019. Meanwhile, his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence after being convicted of sex trafficking of a minor and other charges in 2021.
Many high-profile names appear in the newly-released documents, including President Donald Trump, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, aka Prince Andrew, and former US president Bill Gates, to name just a few.
And one of the names to appear in one of the files is 57-year-old professional skateboarder Tony Hawk, who is mentioned in an email dated Oct. 22, 2024 from a special agent working as a Threat Intake Examiner. Their identity has been redacted, but the email recounted an alleged survivor’s allegations against Epstein.
The email alleges that the woman was first trafficked at age 5, and “brought to Jeffrey Epstein Island when she was 13 years old. [REDACTED] reported that she was there when Prince Edward was there and when Tony Hawk got married on the island.”
This is in reference to Epstein’s privately-owned island, Little Saint James, a private estate in the United States Virgin Islands, where many of Epstein’s crimes are alleged to have taken place.
And on Thursday, Tony himself directly addressed this unverified claim from the files, providing the receipts for all four of his weddings as he vehemently denied ever going to Epstein’s island — or even meeting Epstein. Posting to his Instagram story, he wrote: “Here are the facts and timelines of my nuptials, and I apologize if they don’t fit a narrative of nonsense.”
“1990: Married in Fallbrook, CA (At home),” Tony began, in reference to his first wife, Cindy Dunbar, who he divorced in 1993.
“1996: married in San Diego, CA (At Hilton Hotel),” Tony said of his marriage to Erin Lee, who he divorced in 2004.
“2006: Married in Fiji (On Tavaru Surf Island),” he added in reference to his third wife, Lhotse Merriam, who he split from in 2011.
“2015: Married in Ireland (At Adare Manor),” he concluded, with this being Tony’s wedding to his wife, Catherine Goodman.
Tony went on to address speculation that his 2006 wedding was actually on Epstein’s island as he acknowledged that one of the credited photographers, who is acclaimed in the industry, shares his name with Epstein’s brother, Mark Epstein.
He wrote: “One of the guests in 2006 shot photos of the Fiji ceremony and licensed them to Getty Images. His name is (coincidentally) Mark Epstein, an accomplished action sports photographer from Wyoming and no relation to Jeffrey Epstein (who I never met and whose island I never visited). This is all easily verifiable information. Facts are not fungible.”
Tony even tagged Mark Epstein the photographer in his story, saying: “Sorry you also got pulled into the misinformation vortex.”
BuzzFeed has contacted Tony’s rep for further comment, but in the meantime, let me know your thoughts down below.
