It’s also important to note that Nexstar is currently pursuing a $6.2 billion merger with another media company, Tegna. The FCC would not only have to approve the deal, the New York Times reported, “but also potentially raise the nationwide cap on the percentage of households a single entity’s television stations are allowed to reach.”
In other words, they have reason to play nice with FCC Chairman Brendan Carr. Carr, who is an appointee of President Trump, led the charge to remove Kimmel from the air.
