It’s fair to say that people — especially women — face a certain pressure to settle down and have kids once they reach a certain age, with many seemingly making this life-altering decision on autopilot because becoming a parent is simply just what you’re supposed to do next.
So it’s arguably unsurprising that people are kind of obsessed with Miley Cyrus’s seriously candid comments about her decision to stay child-free, with the 32-year-old star tickling fans when she ultimately compared having kids to having a make-up range during a recent interview.
“I feel that way about motherhood,” she then added. “It’s just never been something that I’ve been overly passionate about.”
“It’s a lot of responsibility and devotion and energy, and if you’re not passionate about that, I don’t know how you do sleepless nights and 18 years of what my mom dealt with,” Miley concluded.
Needless to say, these comments generated a huge amount of praise, with many opening up about their own decision to remain child-free as they discussed Miley’s quotes on a pop culture Reddit forum.
“This is similar to how I explain my no kids stance to others,” one more shared. “I appreciate when public figures (Miley, Seth Rogen, Tracee Ellis Ross, etc) normalize this feeling in the press because you get asked so many questions why.”
