“My wife and I waited. We were both a lot more religious at the time. There’s a lot we’ve unpacked from that period, so I don’t know that I would say I regret waiting until marriage for sex so much as I regret being so steeped in religious shame and guilt and letting it control my actions. As to what it was like, extremely frustrating for the whole relatively short engagement, but after the wedding, extremely satisfying. My coworkers didn’t know I was waiting, but noticed I was way more focused and chill after I got back from our honeymoon.”
“That being said, I have other friends who had very different experiences that involved a lot of confusion and emotion just trying to get there. When you’ve been suppressing all of your sexual energy for so long, it may not be like flipping a switch on the wedding night.”
