But that’s not to say she’s moved on entirely from that period of her life. On Monday, Martha appeared on The Tonight Show, and she revealed she’s still “pissed” at her parole officer for keeping her from saying “yes” to a major career opportunity years ago.
Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon noted that Martha is one of the most impersonated celebrities in SNL history. Over the years, she’s been impersonated by numerous cast members, including Ana Gasteyer, Amy Poehler, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Chloe Fineman among others.
After Martha said she loved the impressions, Jimmy asked if she’d ever host the show, prompting Martha to say she was once asked.
“I wanted to, and they asked me as I was coming out of Alderson, that camp that I was in for a while,” she said. Alderson Federal Prison Camp was the West Virginia facility where Martha served her five-month sentence.
“My parole officer wouldn’t give me the time to do it,” she continued. “I was allowed to be out of my house eight hours a day.”
After Jimmy asked if the parole officer told her “no” to hosting SNL, Martha called them “that bastard.”
“I’m so pissed,” she added. “Maybe some day.”
In fact, not only does she want to host, but Martha noted, “I would be amazing.”
“‘That camp that I was in for awhile’ got me howling😂😂😂😂,” one person commented.
Another shouted out her recent Netflix documentary Martha. “Martha is the definition of a Diva. After watching her documentary, I hella love her. 😂,” they wrote.
Finally, a couple called for her to host SNL of course.
