She made the comments this past week on The Kelly Mantle Show while sharing her thoughts on different comedians in the industry.
Margaret said, “[Ellen is] somebody that I’ve known for such a long time, and it’s so weird now, like, public perception of her is, like, more true.”
“She’s mean,” Margaret added. “She was, like, a mean girl.”
Margaret said she believes that’s because Ellen’s “girlfriends and wives always liked [her]” — and that Ellen sadly hasn’t liked her for “most” of her career.
“Ellen was really weird and not nice to me for most of my career,” Margaret claimed, noting that Ellen would even allegedly act like she didn’t know her at times, when she did.
“I opened for her in the 1980s when she was a headliner in comedy clubs, way before her big fame,” Margaret explained, “so later, when I would do her talk show in the 2000s, she acted like we just met. And I’m like, ‘Bitch what?’ That’s weird! Like, we go way back. It’s so creepy and weird!”
“He talked at length about it, and she cut it out of the show!” Margaret exclaimed. “Which made me so mad.”
“I don’t know if it was personal,” she said. “Maybe it was time, but I’m still going to take it personally.”
Ellen hasn’t yet commented on Margaret’s remarks, but as usual, we’ve reached out to her reps for comment. In the meantime, you can see Margaret’s statements here around the 32:00 mark.
