
BFOZ: Some people might find that country music and anime are worlds apart — does it ever feel strange bringing those two universes together?
Kasey: In my world, anything goes, and I know that my fans know, that I love Miyazaki and anime in general, and Japan. I’m such a massive fan of this place and the culture, and I think it felt like a natural fit or maybe a surprise for people.
But I’m just inspired by the human experience. And whenever I think of a human falling in love, I picture, in an anime when a character is in love or sees something that they’re obsessed with, their eyes get so big, stars are exploding. It’s just so dramatic and fantastical.
And at the time I wrote the song, I was falling in love with someone, and that’s how I felt.
