But from the sound of it, they’re not nearly as close as their onscreen characters, with Jennifer recently telling Vulture that she has not “seen” or “talked” to Sarah since 1997, “when the first movie came out.”
She made the comments while addressing feud rumors, which were sparked in December when Sarah’s seemingly “annoyed” reaction to a question about Jennifer’s involvement in the new sequel movie went viral.
Regarding the speculation, Jennifer told Vulture, “I honestly don’t even know what that was or how that all came to be. I just think people don’t want the narrative to be easy. Why do we always have to be against each other and out for each other?”
When asked whether she’d discussed the situation directly with Sarah, Jennifer replied, “I haven’t seen Sarah. Literally, we’ve not talked since I saw her at 18 years old when the first movie came out. That’s why it’s so funny to me. People were like, ‘Say something back.’ And I’m like, ‘What am I going to say? I’ve not seen her.’ On my side, we’re good. I have no idea where this is coming from.”
Jennifer went on to share her “hope” of seeing Sarah at the premiere on Monday, which, as you might know, unfortunately, didn’t end up happening. According to Sarah, they simply didn’t cross paths, and “unfortunately JLH didn’t come to the after party,” either. But she did praise her co-star’s “fantastic” performance in the sequel.
