It’s cold in these streets, indeed. And frankly, the trust issues people are walking around with feel more than justified when you really think about how cutthroat modern dating has become. Loyalty feels like a novelty—something people talk about more than they actually practice.
What I’m basically trying to get at is this: getting cheated on has quietly become a rite of passage. Unfortunately. Between situationships, soft launches, “we never put a label on it,” and the ever-present temptation of DMs, dating in 2026 can feel like emotional roulette.
For a lot of people, betrayal doesn’t even come as a surprise—it comes as confirmation of a fear they already had in the back of their mind. And yet, every cheating story is different.
