“I came within a hair’s breadth of cheating on her. At after-work drinks in a group, a friend of a friend gave me lots of attention, even when the whole group was talking. It escalated to her ‘accidentally’ knocking my leg with her foot and then keeping it there, which I didn’t discourage. When the group went to a club, she told me that she was probably going home. I told her that where she lived was two stops from me on the tube. ‘Well, how about that; maybe we should leave now?’ is the reply I got. I was thinking, This is an increasingly sure thing, even more so when she smiled at me and took my hand as we walked to the club. But the closer we got to the club, the more I sobered up and thought of my girlfriend of 3 months, and whether I could go through with this. We hadn’t yet had a conversation about being exclusive, and the horny part of my brain was just repeating, ‘Do it!’, but eventually, I made an awkward excuse leave.”
