I Taste-Tested And Ranked Pillsbury, Trader Joe's, And Other Popular Store-Bought Cinnamon Rolls

What I Set Out to Discover:

• What store-bought cinnamon rolls are genuinely delicious?

• Which ones feel bakery-adjacent?

• Which ones are only fine if you’re really hungry and half-awake?

The Ground Rules

Before I got started, I had to set a few parameters. What counts as a store-bought cinnamon roll? For this test, I used nationally available, bake-at-home cinnamon rolls, including both refrigerated and frozen varieties.

I Didn’t Include:

• Fresh bakery cinnamon rolls (not a fair comparison)

• Scratch mixes or DIY kits

• Anything that required adding extra ingredients

How I Prepared Them:

• Baked according to package instructions

• No extras or “doctoring” of any kind (I usually love adding fresh orange zest!)

• Served warm

• Tasted plain (no coffee or cocoa pairings, unfortunately)

The Cinnamon Rolls I Tested

• Trader Joe’s Cinnamon Rolls

• Whole Foods Cinnamon Rolls

• Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls

• Immaculate Cinnamon Rolls
