According to a September 17 TMZ report, Rivas’s mother noted the LAPD’s descriptions of the discovered body, including a finger tattoo with the word “Shhh…,” matched that of her daughter ahead of its identification. Burke shares this tattoo, which was popularized by celebrities like Rihanna, Lindsay Lohan, and Lily Allen, TMZ also reported.
Rivas’s hometown, Lake Elsinore, held a vigil in her name on Sunday, September 21.
On September 23, TMZ reported that Rivas’s body was released to her family. A GoFundMe page currently lists Rivas’s funeral as set for Sunday, October 5, and has raised over $24,000 as of Wednesday morning.
