After being accused of having “no relationship” with her young daughter, Paris Hilton is hitting back at critics.
On Tuesday, Paris — who shares 2-year-old Phoenix and 15-month-old London with her husband, Carter Reum — posted a TikTok that showed her daughter playing with her huge collection of purses. Paris asks the little girl, “Hi princess! Are you getting into my purses?” before sitting down with her and showcasing some of her favorites.
“Is this your favorite?” Paris asks as she holds up one of the purses. “Oh, you like the pink one?” she says as she displays another.
Paris continues asking her daughter questions as she shows her a bunch of her different purses. The little girl remains quiet throughout the video, with Paris adding captions to the screen to (jokingly) translate what she is seemingly thinking.
Many people in the comments thought the video was super cute, and praised Paris for her calm demeanor upon seeing her daughter playing with her collection. “This is the best reaction I’ve ever seen from a mom after she realized that her kid tossed her stuff around the room,” one person wrote. Another added, “I love the reaction from mom… no anger just let her explore.”
However, a lot of people in the comments felt as though they needed to point out how London seemed as though she wasn’t totally familiar with Paris. “Is that her daughter? Cuz she acts like she doesn’t know her,” someone wrote. Another person agreed, saying, “Why do I feel like there is absolutely NO relationship between them?” before a third said, “she is a stranger to her.”
One user commented, “Makes me so sad..I thought Paris would be a fab mom but her daughter looks as if she doesn’t even know her…” before another suggested that Paris should take the time to fix her relationship with her daughter, saying, “Paris I have no doubt you love your babies, but please please take a couple years off work, get rid of the nannies and bond with your beautiful babies.”
Another person suggested that London’s quiet behavior didn’t seem normal at all for a 1-year-old, saying, “She looks afraid and uncertain 🥲.” Another user agreed, saying, “It is a little off. Complete silence.”
The criticism became so apparent in the comments that some users jumped to Paris’s defense. One accused other commenters of “projecting” and said, “She’s a year old, people. Stop projecting what you think you know off of this. She is loved and safe. And also not your child.”
Someone else encouraged Paris, saying, “Hate all the negative comments… young children developing language need the constant input she’s giving to learn what convos look like. Doing great mama!”
Before long, Paris replied to this comment directly to defend herself. She wrote, “Seriously, she is one year old, she is just learning to talk. Some people are just hateful individuals 🥺”
Paris then replied to a few other comments defending her, calling the negativity “so hurtful.” She wrote, “My babies are my world and I am with them every single day and bring them around the world with me when I have to work.”
Paris responded at the time, thanking people for their concern but reassuring them that due to the size of the yacht, it wasn’t necessary for then-1-year-old Phoenix to be wearing a life vest.
