Welcome to Only Good Internet, where I hand out little fun-sized memes for you to open later.
Everybody has their favorite Halloween candy. Everybody also has their LEAST favorite Halloween candy. This viral video from a woman’s Ring camera on Halloween proves that point. In the video, a little girl shows up at the door, and gives a polite “trick or treat.” A moment later, the woman who lives at the house, @rootednjoyy, comes to the door and offers a handful of candy.
It’s hard to see it in the video, but the handful of candy is all Tootsie Rolls. The girl pauses, then says, “Can I ask a question? Why did y’all get Tootsie Rolls?” This causes @rootednjoyy to start laughing and say, “It wasn’t my idea.” But then she defends the poor Tootsie Rolls, saying, “They still good, they a staple!” And you know what? She’s not wrong! They aren’t the most popular candy, but it just isn’t Halloween without getting at least one Tootsie Roll in your candy bag.
People in the comments were losing it over the little girl’s candor:
But a few people in the comments actually chimed in with their defense of Tootsie Rolls:
But nobody mentioned the two main reasons we adults end up passing out the “lesser” candies on Halloween: One, we buy those variety bags and they always have that one candy that ends up left in the bottom of the bowl at the end of the night. And two, Halloween candy is expensive! Tootsie Rolls are cheap! We’re just trying to get to November with our checking accounts intact!
…That when we die, our brains exhibit activity similar to memory flashbacks. In a 2022 study, researchers revealed that a patient whose brain was continuously monitored for epilepsy died of a heart attack while the monitoring occurred, allowing for the first-ever reading of brain wave activity at the point of death. The result showed patterns similar to memory recall, dream states, or meditative states, suggesting that we might have proof that the whole “my life flashed before my eyes” thing is a real, physical reaction our brains have to dying.
This dog owner noticed that a lot of people were calling out, “Hi doggie!” to their dog as she poked her head out the window…
So they did what anyone would do: They put her name up so that people can now say, “Hi Emma!”
You know that house that was always handing out raisins at Halloween? Well, here’s something worse:
I always like to finish every week with something that I MUST share with you, because I can’t get it out of my head. This week, it’s all about this dumb little meme:
