Over the past several years, Prime Video has swiftly established itself as a premier platform for young adult (YA) content. Boasting an impressive array of series and films within the genre, it has captured the hearts of viewers worldwide. This year, the genre has seen an unprecedented level of engagement, with audiences’ obsession reaching new heights.
From The Summer I Turned Pretty to Maxton Hall, there is a YA fandom for everyone to dive into across the world, and today, one of the biggest of them all is finally releasing their final instalment. Today, the world-famous Culpable books written and created by Mercedes Ron come to an end with the final film Culpa Nuestra. Starring the fan favourite Nicole Wallace & Gabriel Guevara, we’re finally getting to see this high-stakes, action-packed, forbidden affair come to a close, as we find out if they can make it to the end.
The teaser trailer for Culpa Neustra broke Prime Video records by amassing over 163M views across all social media platforms, making it the most-watched trailer for an original streaming movie ever. Mercedes Ron, the author behind the Culpable books, spoke to BuzzFeed about why she thinks these stories strike such a universal chord.
It might be the last we hear from the Culpabables, but it won’t be the last we see from Mercedes Ron on Prime Video, as it’s been announced that the studio will be making ten book-to-screen adaptations from the fan-adored writer. Dímelo Bajito and Marfil currently have release dates, with many more from Ron’s bibliography to be announced.
Reflecting on her journey, Ron shared what she’s learned from the Culpable series that she’ll carry into future projects:
