If you cast your mind back, you probably know that there initially seemed to be tension between Victoria Beckham and Nicola shortly after her and Brooklyn’s 2023 wedding. However, when 2024 kicked off, the family appeared to be a united front and were on good terms… For about a year.
In 2025, Brooklyn and Nicola failed to attend any of David Beckham’s three 50th birthday celebrations; they also did not publicly acknowledge his big day on May 2, and when Father’s Day rolled around, Brooklyn pointedly snubbed his dad again. Despite David and Victoria including Brooklyn in multiple gushing posts at the time, Brooklyn did not acknowledge any of them or post about his dad in any capacity.
It’s worth noting that Brooklyn also did not acknowledge his mom on her birthday or Mother’s Day, nor his brothers on their birthdays. However, he and Nicola did acknowledge his younger sister, Harper Beckham’s, 14th birthday back in July.
Shortly after Father’s Day, Brooklyn notably posted a birthday tribute to Nicola’s dad, billionaire Nelson Peltz, on Instagram. Alongside a photo of him and Nicola posing with Nelson, he wrote: “Happy Birthday Nelson x we love you ❤️”
Brooklyn also failed to acknowledge his dad’s knighthood in November — something that David has made no secret is incredibly important to him.
Then, shortly before Christmas, the youngest Beckham son, Cruz, publicly revealed that Brooklyn had blocked the entire family on Instagram after tabloids mistakenly reported that David and Victoria had unfollowed their son.
Responding to a Daily Mail headline about the couple unfollowing Brooklyn on social media, Cruz wrote: “NOT TRUE My mum and dad would never unfollow their son.. Let’s get the facts right. They woke up blocked… as did I.”
But through all of this, it seems as though David and Victoria are keen to show that the door is still open for their son to come back to them, with David sharing a poignant New Year’s Eve message on Wednesday.
Posting a throwback photo of himself and Cruz to his Instagram story, David began: “I’m so grateful for my family I love you all.”
Over an old pic of Romeo, he added: “I’m so lucky to have my Amazimg family x”
Then, alongside a throwback with Brooklyn, David wrote: “I love you all so much.”
On a photo with Harper, he continued: “I’m a very lucky Daddy.”
Then, the last photo in his story was a throwback of Victoria and all four children shortly after Harper’s birth. He wrote: “You are my Life. I Love you all , Love Daddy x On to 2026.”
Victoria only reposted one of David’s posts to her own story; the one of Brooklyn. She added a heart gif, but no further comment.
David doubled down on his message in a grid post, too, where he shared photos from the year. While Brooklyn was not in any of the photos — seemingly because David hadn’t seen him — he was alluded to in the caption, which read: “I feel very lucky to have had the year I’ve had in 2025 full of moments that I will never forget from my 50th to my knighthood ( still pinching myself ) and then finishing with winning the MLS as an owner , I’m so grateful to my incredible wife , my amazing children , my friends and team I work with every single day nothing would have been possible without you all… But as Sir Alex Ferguson would say ‘ Onto the the next ‘ ❤️ Thank you for the incredible memories I will forever remember 2025 ❤️ @victoriabeckham I love you & our kids ❤️.”
It was previously speculated that Brooklyn had fallen out with his family after his younger brother Romeo started dating “his ex,” Kim Turnbull. However, both Kim and Cruz have publicly denied that she and Brooklyn ever dated.
Posting to her Instagram story earlier this year, Kim wrote: “I’ve avoided speaking on this topic to prevent adding fuel to the fire, however it’s come to a point where I feel the need to address it so I can move on. I will not continue to receive harassment or be embarrassed on the basis of lies, to fit a certain narrative.”
Cruz reiterated this message more explicitly when he replied to somebody who commented: “It’s appropriate to date your brother’s ex too?” on one of Romeo’s Instagram posts, responding at the time: “Brooklyn and Kim never dated.”
