Every so often, the iconic singer (and actor!) Cher does or says something that makes you — affectionately, I should specify — say “What?” This, my friends, is one of those times.
So, Cher was the guest on the most recent episode of Dax Shepard‘s Armchair Expert podcast — and during her appearance, it was revealed that she apparently has been very vocal in her belief that Kristen Bell could do better than being married to Dax.
“Who would be your dream partner for her?” Dax said to Cher while sitting alongside Kristen. “‘Cause I know you think she could [do] better, and I don’t disagree.”
Cher’s response was nice, in a way — but it was also pretty brutal. “The truth is, I trust her,” she said. “So you must have something that I don’t see.” Y-I-K-E-S.
Later in the conversation, Dax tried to sell himself as a good husband to Cher. “I’ll tell you the thing that you should like about me,” he said. “I’m not threatened by her shining. Love it. The shinier she gets, the better.”
“Alexander is that way too,” Cher said regarding her current boyfriend, Alexander “AE” Edwards. “The more I shine, the more he has won.”
Now, there’s a reason why Cher has such a high opinion of Kristen: The two starred together in the 2010 film Burlesque, and as Cher reminisced on the pod, it sounds like the two stars got along swimmingly.
“We got along so well, and we were very sympatico, and I respected her a lot,” Cher said. “I didn’t know who she was, but she was good.”
