With Bridgerton Season 4 Part 2 now streaming on Netflix, I had to bring it back to when our charismatic leading couple sat down with us for tea — because if you’re just diving into the last four episodes, this little Easter egg is too cute to miss.
Season 4 stars, Yerin Ha (Sophie Baek) and Luke Thompson (Benedict Bridgerton), sat down for a fresh brew with Buzzfeed’s Jeffrey Thurm to talk all things CelebriTEA. And you might already have jumped back into the world of wisteria and wild romance, but in case you missed it…
“I don’t know if this is an ‘easter egg’” Luke says, “but there’s a really nice reference later on in the show to the kite scene.”
For those who may have forgotten, the kite scene took place at Benedict’s cottage, a place of solitude and comfort that allowed for his and Sophie’s romance to blossom away from prying eyes and gossip sheets. But the kite might not only be a marker of the peaceful days Sophie spent there; the keen fans amongst you might also see how the kite symbolises freedom, juxtaposed with how their responsibilities and even clashing classes ‘tie’ them both down.
“There’s a tie pin that Benedict wears at a specific moment in the show”, Luke adds. …“and Lorenzo [Mancianti], who does the jewellery, has hand-painted a small kite flying [onto it]”.
“It was so cool,” says Yerin, “that I really wasn’t looking at [Luke] — I was looking at the tie pin!” she laughs.
I’m not sure if I love this duo more as Benedict and Sophie or Luke and Yerin — it’s the type of chemistry we love to see. Whilst stirring their teacups, Luke also proved himself a true friend by asking Yerin whether she felt proud of herself, to which she gracefully answered “yes.”
You can watch the full interview below and you can catch Luke and Yerin in Season 4 Part 2 on Netflix now!
