Last week, President Barack Obama went on a podcast and said that aliens are real. And, no, I’m not even slightly joking.
Speaking on the Brian Tyler Cohen Show, Obama casually said: “They’re real, but I haven’t seen them, and they’re not being kept in uh, what is it, Area 51.”
“There’s no underground facility,” he continued, “unless there’s this enormous conspiracy and they hid it from the president of the United States.”
When Brian asked, “What was the first question you wanted answered when you became president?” Obama then replied: “Where are the aliens?” Perfection.
Naturally, everyone lost their minds at this. And among the commentary, people expressed disbelief and frustration that the interviewer didn’t ask a single follow-up question, leaving us all dying for more context.
Well, it seems President Obama caught wind of all the commotion online, as he hopped onto Instagram on Feb. 16 to offer a little more clarity regarding his alien confession.
Reposting the viral interview clip, he wrote in the caption: “I was trying to stick with the spirit of the speed round, but since it’s gotten attention let me clarify.”
“Statistically, the universe is so vast that the odds are good there’s life out there,” he continued. “But the distances between solar systems are so great that the chances we’ve been visited by aliens is low, and I saw no evidence during my presidency that extraterrestrials have made contact with us. Really!”
You’d think this might satisfy the conspiracy theorists, but, hilariously, everyone in the comments is having the same thought:
Well, if these are the conversations we’re having, 2026 pop culture is already off to a pretty interesting start.
