Let’s talk about a particular type of man: The year-round shorts guy.
@mollyfleck is going viral for posting a picture of a guy in shorts on a clearly freezing day with the caption “Chicagoans are just built different.”
Here’s a closer look at the specimen:
The replies to this one get interesting. Let’s start with the “this is a certain genre of man” responses.
“I dont think this is a chicago thing – theres a certain genre of white man who always wears gym shorts and a tee no matter what the weather,” one person commented.
The menswear guy agreed, saying, “This is just a thing with a certain type of man. imo, it’s location agnostic.”
And this person simply said, “lol ‘year round shorts guy’ exists everywhere though.”
Other people are pointing out where this phenomenon occurs most.
Its been spotted in NE Philly.
Another person called it “Rochester new york-core.”
We have Minnesota representation, “A very regular appearance in minneapolis. can attest through experience alone.”
And finally, just about all of New England.
Then, there are the haters.
We have, “This is peak performative male behavior.”
Similarly, this person commented, “This shit is performative he’s cold as hell.”
Adding to the hate train, there’s: “I get irrationally angry when I see this in the wild. The energy is similar to owning a cybertruck.”
This person asked, “I think these people are stupid. Why do you want to suffer? Why do you want to feel uncomfortable?”
Andddd finally, “Literally my biggest ick.”
Now, let’s talk about the admirers, a whole group of people, I’ll be honest, I never knew existed.
This person responded, “Men who do this are always hot.”
And a BUNCH of people just replied with something like, “NEED him.”
Finalllllly, we have a representative from the Midwest who made the point, “If there’s no wind, 30° isn’t that bad…”
So, where do you stand on the issue? Pro, anti, or get in my pants?!
