Before we move on, it’s important to note that there was a major change with The Great British Bake Off between seasons 7 and 8 and, along with it, a big controversy. Bake Off originally aired on the BBC. After Season 7, the show’s production company, Love Productions, decided to move the show to Channel 4 for more money. This also meant that the show would be interrupted by commercials (the BBC doesn’t have any).
This change hurt some feelings, leading to judge Mary Berry and hosts Sue and Mel to quit the show. Critics of the move claimed that it would negatively affect the show.
Perhaps it’s causation and perhaps it’s correlation, I can’t say for certain, but there was certainly a change in the Hollywood Handshake.
