1.
This just feels so dystopian.
2.
I’m legitimately so sad for today’s children.
3.
Isn’t modern childhood beautiful?
4.
Speaking of McDonald’s…it used to be what you got when you couldn’t afford anything else. Now, people can’t even afford McDonald’s.
5.
Burger King is price gouging, too. And apparently charging whatever they want, when they want to charge it.
6.
Oh, look, more price gouging. And yet, the federal minimum wage hasn’t gone up.
7.
While it might be higher in some states, it’s still wildly low in others.
8.
America will really do anything but pass gun laws.
9.
The fact that schools even need this is so sad.
10.
This is legitimately scary. Gotta start ’em on capitalism early!
11.
America – where you can’t even escape ads at school.
12.
This is the future, I guess. Yay.
14.
What happens when no one can get a job anymore because it’s been outsourced to AI? How do we pay our bills?
15.
Oh, you thought you lived in a democracy? Where people could make their voices heard?
16.
Supporting your employees and patients has become politicized.
17.
English lessons are politicized, apparently, too.
18.
I don’t see how this is supposed to be inspiring???
19.
This is a pretty damning indictment of both modern dating and the US healthcare system.
20.
It’s so cartoonishly evil to cancel field trips for children.
21.
This feels like the attitude of every company these days.
22.
I can’t believe we’re at the point where A) eggs cost over $10 and B) grocery stores are offering payment plans (no one should have to put basic life essentials on payment plans!).
23.
Security tags on everything are the new norm, which you can blame on people being so poor they’re forced to steal cheap food items or companies caring way more about losing a few dollars here and there than creating a non-infuriating customer experience.
24.
It costs money to be poor, y’all.
25.
I don’t understand how people are supposed to afford rent these days.
26.
Or how people can afford to stay in the apartment they’re at, with landlords constantly bumping up prices for no reason, without making a single improvement or even replying to your maintenance requests throughout the year.
27.
If they don’t increase your rent, they’ll find other ways to charge you. (TBH, if you’re in a gated community, I’m not too worried about you, but still.)
28.
I don’t know how people are affording utilities, either. In my NYC apartment, our heater is so expensive that it would easily be over $600/month if we used it consistently, so we just…don’t use heat in the winter except for an hour here and there. I get by with a heated blanket and the warmth of my own fury.
29.
Even applying for an apartment is expensive.
30.
Don’t forget to show your landlord your appreciation for grifting off you!
31.
As if the housing crisis wasn’t bad enough!!!
32.
No person or company should own 42 houses — the fact that this person considers themself a “small landlord” says it all. How is it okay for so many people and companies to profit so much off people literally needing a place to sleep or for them to buy up all the property so no one can afford to buy their own place?
33.
The price of college in the US is ridiculous, and encouraging 18-year-olds to take out these kind of loans is straight-up irresponsible.
34.
And paying them off can actually bring your credit score down. Oh, and good luck renting an apartment or otherwise living in America with a bad credit score.
35.
Welcome to America, where you can stay alive for the low, low price of $32k a month!
36.
This is why people refuse ambulances even when they’re bleeding out.
37.
Sums up the job hunt nowadays.
38.
But don’t worry — in a capitalist hellscape, there’s a way to give yourself a leg up while job hunting!
39.
Thanks to AI, you can now talk in circles with a robot while struggling to find a job that will pay you a living wage!
40.
Penalizing employees for being sick feels illegal, but that’s just America for ya.
41.
Companies are SO out of touch with how much it costs to be alive. Do they really think minimum wage employees own houses and that their mortgage is $600 a month?
42.
This is what happens when you allow billionaires to operate without restriction.
43.
I’ve had it with the random performative environmental changes so many brands make. How is this supposed to be better for sustainability?
44.
This ain’t helping anyone’s perception of the police.
45.
It’s heartwarming to see how much modern workplaces appreciate their employees.
47.
And finally…why does it feel like everything is just losing joy in America?
