“I had a college roommate who started out to be great…until she joined a sorority. Suddenly, her behaviour shifted, and I wasn’t “good enough” to be her friend because I wasn’t in the Greek life. Top things I remember: I had a depressive episode, and I couldn’t get out of bed for a few weeks. She told people I was just lazy and attention-seeking. She used my mattress to make a bigger bed when her boyfriend came to visit, and then got mad at me for not leaving on the weekends he was there. She even tried reporting me to Res Life for being unreasonable for not leaving our room — they just laughed at her. She graduated a semester early and told me I was not welcome in our room when her parents came to move her out. When I got back, I found she had taken my DVD player, the remote, some of my DVDs, all my dishes, and even some of my clothes, even though she wasn’t my size.”
