This means keeping people at a distance where you can still love them, and no closer.’ Alleviated a lot of guilt about pushing my family away. I am able to love them still because they aren’t on top of me like they used to be. Any closer and I will grow to resent them.”
“Also true of romantic relationships. If I can tell that someone being my romantic partner erodes the relationship between us, and reparation doesn’t work, then I break up.
