When my mom would get a call from the school, she’d answer it with, ‘What did my child do?’ Now, when you call a parent, it’s ‘What did you do to my child?’ The automatic assumption is that the child is telling the truth and the teacher is lying or making something up, that the teacher has something against the child or is just mean or lazy.”
